About Us

Canberra Pet Rescue is a registered not-for-profit charity (incorporated association) based in Belconnen, but with foster carers across Canberra. We primarily rescue cats and kittens on ‘death-row’ at pounds, but also take those who have been surrendered or abandoned.

We aim to ensure that no matter how they come into this world, every cat/kitten we save is given the chance to find a happy and loving forever home.

Although we are called Canberra Pet Rescue we are currently focusing on helping cats and kittens, with the aim to one day help dogs, puppies and other furry friends as well. We work closely with other rescue groups and pass on all dog donations to groups that currently have dogs or puppies in care.

The current club President and a few of the members have all been in the rescue scene for a number of years before creating this group so have plenty of experience caring for cats and kittens, and getting them back to good health.

Stay tuned for photos of our team (volunteers and board) soon!

Without the dedication of our wonderful volunteers we wouldn’t exist. Our foster carers are the lifeline of our organisation, taking in and caring for every cat and kitten we primarily save from deathrow at pounds. Supporting our carers are the amazing people who undertake activities for fundraising, marketing, graphics design, and much more! We appreciate our past, current and future volunteers more than we can put into words!

As an Incorporated Association in the ACT, we are using the Model Rules to govern the organisation. Our governance board is made up of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Ordinary Members. We are currently undergoing the assessment process to become a Deductible Gift Recipient (so donations will be tax deductible).
