For upcoming events please check our events page on Facebook.
We have a range of fundraising events planned for throughout the year however we need passionate people to help make them successful.
Activities can involve anything from managing the event, to supervising cats and kittens, cooking sausages, creating marketing brochures/posters, coordinating people or venues, or dropping flyers in letterboxes.
Please get in touch on Facebook or email (CanberraPetRescue@gmail.com) to see what we have coming up and find out if there is something you might like to get involved in. You are also most welcome to suggest an event you would like to help run and we can help get volunteers to make it happen.
We (and our furry friends) thank you for helping us, we couldn’t do what we do without the wonderful support from our volunteers.
If you would like to join our CPR Volunteer Group, get in touch and then you will be invited to the CPR Volunteer Group on Facebook.
Cats on Mats
We held Canberra’s first ever Cats on Mats (yoga with kittens) session on Friday the 20th of January 2017. Our kittens loved their yoga session and we received some amazing feedback! You can read an article about it from the Canberra Times here.
Due to the overwhelming positive feedback and support, we have successful ran over 20 Cats on Mats (yoga with kittens) sessions now. We have a dedicated and amazing group of volunteer yoga instructors who have come up with an incredible yoga routine for all levels to have as much fun with the kittens as possible.
Our kittens love the sessions which hugely help with their socialisation skills. The zen atmosphere in the studio makes the kittens feel like they’re in control of the class and they like to meet everyone with their funny interactive antics!
We advertise these events on our Facebook when they are coming up, and they sell out fast so stay tuned!
Adoption Days at Best Friends Fyshwick
Thanks to the incredible team at Best Friends Fyshwick we have had two very successful adoption days in January and February 2019 where 14 cats and kittens found their furrrrever homes!
Our adoption days also consist of a fundraising BBQ (food supplied by Best Friends!), merchandise available, and in-store discounts for our adopters!
Learning to Paint with CPR
In early 2019 we hosted a painting session where participants were guided through creating their own cat masterpieces that they could take home. This was a fun night out and we are looking forward to doing it again soon.
CPR Merchandise Stalls
In 2018 we were given the opportunity to hold some merchandise fundraising stalls in the Canberra Centre.
This opportunity allowed supporters to purchase our cat themed merchandise we sell – everything from funky items for people (socks, scarves, keyrings, earrings, etc) to teasers and homemade treats for cats.
Stay tuned as we will soon be unveiling our online merchandise stall for these cool cat themed items!
Movie Nights with CPR
In 2018 we ran a charity screening of the uplifting movie “A Street Cat Named Bob” at Palace Cinemas. Tickets sold out and we all had such a fun night night out where we all shared the tears and laughter of this wonderful movie.
We are looking at having further screenings in 2019 as other suitable and fun movies are released.
BBQs
Thanks to the support from Bunnings, Autobarn, and Best Friends Fyshwick, we have run (and continue to run) many fundraising BBQs. Thanks to the support of everyone who came, we have been able to make enough funds to keep us going in this expensive mission to save vulnerable cats and kittens.
We are always looking for volunteers to help cook and serve at the BBQs so please send us a message if you’re able to assist.
